LoadNinja Announcement – SmartBear Pricing is Still Too Expensive

By: RedLine13

Congratulations SmartBear on releasing LoadNinja, a cloud-based load testing solution. SmartBear pricing is still too expensive for most businesses. Scalability is important, as well as ease of use. But if businesses can’t afford it, then that’s not smart. The cheapest price level is $1,799 for a year and it’s full of limits: 1,000 virtual users, 100 load testing hours and 1 hour Maximum Test. The limitations are still there at $2,999 and $5,999 per year. RedLine13 thinks there is another way to do load testing that is scalable, easy to use AND inexpensive.

SmartBear Pricing

SmartBear LoadNinja Basic Pro Premium
Cost $1,799 per year $2,999 per year $5,999 per year
Users 1000 2500 5000
Hours 100 100 100
Duration 1 hour 1 hour 4 hours

RedLine13 Pricing

RedLine13 pricing is different. Cost = RedLine13 Plan + AWS. The RedLine13 Plans are much less expensive and don’t have the annoying limitations that LoadNinja has.

RedLine13 Plans Basic Pro Enterprise
Cost $500 per year  $1,200 per year  $2,500 per year
Users unlimited unlimited unlimited
Hours unlimited unlimited unlimited
Duration unlimited unlimited unlimited

The other piece is the AWS Costs. If you’ve priced out AWS, you know how ridiculously inexpensive it is. If not, here are some recent, random RedLine13 tests that real RedLine13 users have run and the AWS cost:

100 users, 10,000 requests, 2 AWS servers, cost: $.25, as in 25 cents.

RedLine13 Pricing vs. SmartBear Pricing

1,000 users, 276,000 requests, 1 AWS servers, cost: $1.

RedLine13 Pricing vs. SmartBear Pricing

Load testing is important but it shouldn’t be expensive. It should be (almost) free!
