AWS Updates

By: Rich Friedman

We upgraded our usage of AWS library 3.5.*, it has been a while since we have updated.  While updating we have put together a few other AWS friendly updates

  • AWS Cross Account Roles
    • Cross account roles is the preferred AWS mechanism for granting access to service providers.  This was feedback provided direct from AWS folks and per docs

SaaS products should leverage Cross Account Roles to perform actions on behalf of customers

  • Agents utilized ‘enhanced_network’ improving agent performance
    • As per Enhanced Networking documentation

Enabling enhanced networking on your instance results in higher performance (packets per second), lower latency, and lower jitter.

  • Support for Frankfurt load agents

  • New EC2 Sizes supported
    • Added 20 new sizes.  Perhaps too many options?
    • Start a load test to check them all out

  • Agent Disk Size
    • Large JMeter tests with custom log files were hitting up against the default 8GB sizing of instances. You can now override the defaults and change disk size for your load agents.
  • AWS Aurora
    • Under the cover change but we upgrade to using AWS Aurora for performance and price
