AWS Costs for Large JMeter Load Tests Run by Real Customers

By: Chris Baeckstrom

People often ask what it will cost to run a large load test with RedLine13 on AWS, especially for large JMeter tests. We have lots of articles explaining how the AWS costs are determined. But some people have asked to see AWS costs for large JMeter load tests with real results from real customers.

We think that listening to our customers is a good idea. So here they are. We’ve included test summaries from five different customers. Obviously we won’t disclose who those customers are.

These are JMeter tests, so each Thread in the second row below is a virtual user. In the summaries below, the number of virtual users range from 263,000 up to 79 million. The tests range in length from 5 minutes to about two hours. The costs are estimates and they range from about $1 to $500. If you want to know more about AWS costs, we have an entire article on how AWS estimated costs are calculated.
