He recently did a load testing comparison to see what changed since then. And he realizes that the winds of change have changed it a lot. It&#8217;s titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/alexanderpodelko.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/12\/are-times-still-good-for-load-testing\/\">Are Times still Good for Load Testing?<\/a>&#8221; and is an excellent read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alex currently serves as a board director for the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cmg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Computer Measurement Group (CMG)<\/a>, a worldwide organization of performance and capacity management professionals. Read\u00a0his\u00a0full\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alexanderpodelko.com\/Bio.html\">bio<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s crazy (but not unexpected) to read that so many people have left the big load testing companies after being acquired: Loadrunner (now @MicroFocus), Soasta (now @Akamai) and @BlazeMeter (now @Broadcom). Alex states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The theory about acquisitions is that the bigger company will invest more and will provide more opportunities for the smaller acquired company. Unfortunately it doesn\u2019t appear that any of above mentioned acquisitions worked quite that way.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"192\" height=\"192\" src=\"https:\/\/www.redline13.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Alexander-Podelko.jpeg\" alt=\"Load Testing comparison by Alex Podelko\" class=\"wp-image-6588\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.redline13.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Alexander-Podelko.jpeg 192w, https:\/\/www.redline13.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Alexander-Podelko-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 192px) 100vw, 192px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Alex goes on to talk about the companies that you would expect to be using load testing tools and that many see &#8220;less need for simple load testing due to increased scale and sophistication of systems&#8221;. Yet sites like <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PerfBytes\">PerfBytes<\/a> keep reminding us about more sites that just crashed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He analyzed various data from 2014 vs. today and concludes that Apache JMeter is now the most popular load testing tool and many SaaS tools are built to support it, like RedLine13 and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it&#8217;s your turn.
