Animal intelligence meets the world of pets. Here\u2019s how an international corporation turned to RedLine13 for soak testing of their global pet monitoring system to mitigate DDoS attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sure Petcare<\/a>, part of Antelliq, the World\u2019s Leading Animal Intelligence Group, developed a system where a pet owner periodically sends information about his pet\u2019s activity and the server processes this information asynchronously. They provide pet owners with smart devices and data that give them a better understanding of their pets\u2019 health needs and wellbeing, with the goal of enriching relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of Sure Petcare is to use soak testing, by running high loads over a long period of time, to see if server behavior is sound \u2013 meaning that there\u2019s no DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) or that server latencies are not exceedingly high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The technical part is straight forward. They create JMeter test plans designed to run for a given period of time and a given size of users. Then they fire it on various machines using RedLine13. Some tests have run for more than 27 hours on 30 AWS servers. The AWS cost for that test was only $121. There was no RedLine13 cost above the existing subscription pricing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far their testing efforts with RedLine13 have provided good information as to how well their system behaves under loads over time. Eldad Uzman, Automation Engineer, works very closely with the development team to resolve issues that have been discovered by the tests. They have made code improvements, changes to their infrastructure, and new fault tolerance configurations which have significantly reduced the risks of DDoS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
