Though JSON<\/a> has in recent times become the de facto<\/em> standard response format from API<\/a> calls, there still are a fair number of APIs which return their response in XML<\/a> format. Often when this is the case, the returned markup is not formatted in a user-friendly manner. The XML Format Post Processor<\/em><\/a> is an extension for JMeter<\/a> which serves to format responses in a way that is more easily readable.<\/p>\n

In previous posts, we have discussed how to add plugins<\/a> to JMeter using the JMeter Plugins Manager<\/a>. Following in the same manner, you can add the XML Format Post Processor<\/em> which will subsequently allow you to add this component to your test plan.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Using the XML Format Post Processor<\/h3>\n

It is only necessary to add a single instance of the XML Format Post Processor<\/em> to your JMeter test. Adding this component to the beginning of your test plan will change the behavior of all subsequently added responses which return in XML.<\/p>\n

An example response provided in the official XML Format Post Processor<\/em> documentation<\/a>, using a View Results Tree<\/a> component to display unformatted markup from requests:<\/p>\n
